Painting the kitchen table black ...

Step 1: I took the hand sander to the table to give it a paint able surface ...
Step 2: I used a 2 inch paint brush and painted the entire table black (flat paint with primer)

2 + hours later ...

Black as night.

Love it.

I think I'll give it a second coat of black paint tomorrow and then I'll seal it with a clear satin polyurethane.

The kitchen subfloor ...

The subfloor is now down in the kitchen! We are getting close to putting the tile in ... Yahoo! :)

Good news ... They clean up! There's hope for these 60 year old floors! :)

Shelf paper in black and white ...

I like how the black and white paper looks inside the drawer ... my Mom surprised me with an early birthday gift and gave me a gorgeous box of this liner paper. There is not enough to do all the kitchen cabinets so I'm going to hunt for a black and white wallpaper pattern that will go with this one.

Have you ever tried to find pretty shelf liners for the kitchen?! I'm thinking of creating a product shelf liner line for all to enjoy :) ...

A touch of black in the kitchen

I like black - it looks good in here. And white dishes... so I had to play around for a moment.
I can hardly wait to move in and get the place feeling like HOME.

Checking things out.

I placed a few tiles out on the floor so I could see how this room will flow ... I love it.

Design notes: I might use black counters and add a shabby chic style old black door ...
