English Chestnut - the stain for the floor ...

Look! A ton of a work ...
That's it - go get it!

I have dreams at night that look like this ... :)
And I am standing there trying to decide what to get.

Refinishing the hardwood floors - Day 2 ...

Tory rented another sanding machine (this is machine number 3) from our local rental shop today and started sanding the floors again. We are refinishing the hardwood floors in the house and WOW it has been a wild adventure.
Upstairs room -

Second upstairs room ...

In the dust storm. There is sand covering everything in the house.

We sanded the floors 4 times - using different grades of sandpaper each time - 36, 60, 80 and then finished with 100. All this sanding has created a huge mess.

After a good vacuum and mop - the floors are almost ready to stain.

In addition to using the above sanding machine, we used a palm sander and a belt sander to remove all the existing stain and finish from the corners and edges of each room. This project is by far the most difficult and time consuming so far. We have the floors ready to stain in the front room, dining room and 2 of the upstairs bedrooms. Luckily, the third bedroom upstairs had great floors that didn't need refinishing.
Special thanks to Keni Gosney and Robert Lichfield for their help on Friday. :)

Join me for a moment at Lowe's ...

There I am just hanging out in Lowe's with my little Lowe's shopping bucket :)
I looked up and saw the microwave I wanted on the clearance isle... Yahooo! I love it when we get a good bargain. It was their display model and now it's ours. The price reduction was $200.00 - SAY WOW out loud with me ... "WOW"

Then I bumped into the oven I want :) ... It's a beauty and will match the fridge and the microwave!

Hardwood floors (second attempt) ...

Check that out - the drum sander worked!
Tory using the drum sander.

Check out the dust - it's everywhere... That little bag on the side of the machine does nothing. It makes you believe it will catch the sand. :)
Special thanks to Keni Gosney for his help and humor today...

The hardwood floors (first attempt) ...

We rented a buffing machine this morning in hopes of having it remove the top layer of the hardwood floors. No such luck.
We even had our first born sit on the machine to give it more power ... no luck!

The machine - it failed. So we took it back to the rental shop and picked up a stronger tool/machine.

The water heater ...

Loading it up. Tying it down ...
Laughing out loud - check out that warning at the top of the box! Excessive Weight Hazard. (You need two people to lift this big item!)

Water Header, welcome to our new/old home! :)

The microwave ...

There it is to the right (on the floor) ... Just waiting to be installed.
